The Grange is a producer of exquisite sparkling wines started by four siblings and a parent in 2011 on soft and rolling Hampshire chalk downland.

On a beautiful, crisp Spring morning we hopped in the car and headed down to see what was going on; the blackthorn was in full blossom and The Grange’s spanking new winery was glistening in the strengthening sunshine. Zam Baring, youngest of the siblings and managing partner of the wine business was waiting to show us around.

Zam spent 30 years making television as editor, director and producer, ending up running an independent production company that made factual programmes and films ranging from the River Cottage franchise, via landmark BBC documentary series’, to the Banksy funded feature doc Exit Through the Gift Shop.

During the last ten years he has slowly made the transition to managing the wine team at The Grange - two full time viticulturalists, a Head Winemaker and a Head of Sales plus the many part-time workers needed to
