Biography of Adlai Ewing Stevenson III
Adlai Ewing Stevenson III is an American political figure and a member of the Democratic Party.
He served as the representative for the state of Illinois in the United States Senate from 1970 to 1981.
Early Life and Education
Adlai was born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Milton Academy in Massachusetts, Harrow School in England, and Harvard College.
In 1957, Stevenson graduated from Harvard with a law degree.
Military Service
In 1952, Adlai became a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and served in Korea. He was discharged from active duty in 1954 but remained a captain in the Marine Corps Reserve until 1961.
